PostForum: RSS2HTML (RSS to HTML Converter)   Posted: Fri Jul 14, 2017 1:23 pm   Subject: Most recent items not appearing
I am finding that if the user has already visited the page where my RSS2HTML feed is being presented -- and thus has the page cached -- the page does not automatically load whatever the newest version of the feed is. The user must refresh the browser window to force the most recent items to load.

Short of making some manual change to the page's CSS file name, forcing a page reload whenever a new blog post is added to the feed, is there any way in RSS2HTML to force the page to grab the latest feed items?

I have my feed from Blogger set up to only serve each post until the page break or jump; at that point Blogger inserts a "Read More" line which is hotlinked and aligned to the left. This comes in fine on my pages that use RSS2HTML to reproduce the blog posts.

That said, on Blogger I am able to use CSS to replace the jump-link with a hotlinked JPG -- or simply to align it to the right. I have not been able to do the same with the page using the feed via RSS2HTML, as apparently the Atom feed doesn't send any styles with the jump link, just the hotlinked words "Read More". Is there something that can be done on the RSS2HTML template side that would permit it to recognize and restyle the jump link?

Thanks for responding. I had figured it was probably something simple!

Okay, it looks like that did the trick -- eliminating everything, including the TABLE, from the sample template removed all the stuff that the Validator didn't like from the RSS2HTML side. (Now it's just the feed it doesn't like.) I guess that solves it.

Working on a scratchpad site, it looks like I can eliminate the <HEAD><BODY> and other material from being imported into my site by eliminating them from the RSS2HTML template file.

The problem then is that the page still comes up invalid on the W3 validator because it doesn't want to see <p> and <br> codes inside a table, which are part of the template. I'm guessing that's unavoidable, then, because RSS2HTML is loading the external feed into a table and it's got to be formatted somehow. Any way to resolve this?

There are actually two includes and RSS2HTML feeds on that page.

For both, the template being referred to is
http://www.comichron.com/rss2-template.html
...which should be pretty much unchanged from yours.

For the top include, the feed is
http://blog.comichron.com/feeds/posts/default/-/Featured?alt=rss

And the script is
http://www.comichron.com/rss2htmltop.php

For the bottom include, the feed is
http://blog.comichron.com/feeds/posts/default/-/Flashbacks?alt=rss

And the script is
http://www.comichron.com/rss2html.php

Thanks for looking at this!

My RSS2HTML installation appears to be working -- it looks fine online -- but when validated, it shows that the PHP Include is bringing in code that's surrounded by the <HTML>,<HEAD>, <BODY> and other code, which shouldn't be in the middle of my HTML page. I was expecting it to only bring in the table with the HTML generated from my feed.

Did I miss a step somewhere? The page in question is http://www.comichron.com
