Now that you have cURL enabled and it's returning those errors, I think I know what the problem is. Those Feeds don't actually exist, those aren't valid feed links, so there's no RSS to update the SQL database with. At least, that's what I'm assuming since both of those URL's don't have any valid feed data associated with them.

Many thanks for the reply, after fiddling I solved the problem, I enabled a php extension called pdo and it worked from then. Bit of a fluke as I don't have a clue but I'm glad I sorted it.

I'm pretty sure the problem is related to my new host settings and there is something I need to do as I can put dummy data into the database and retrieve it ok on a web page, the problem seems to be that the rss2sql script isn't doing as it should and my theory is my server settings need tweaked or something. However, I have no idea what I need to tweak so any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi

I am in the process of moving hosts as my last host suspended my account for high memory to cpu usage (I was running a remote cron every minute) so I've moved to vps hosting. I'm moving my stuff over to the new server but when running the script rss2sql.php it is failing. When I parse this file it just says on the page updateFeed(2) or when running the cron to pare it the log is showing this:

URL: http://www.newslfc.com/script/rss2sql2.php
HTTP/1.0 500 Internal Server Error
Date: Sat, 25 Jun 2011 08:52:08 GMT
Server: Apache/2.2.19 (FreeBSD) mod_ssl/2.2.19 OpenSSL/0.9.8q DAV/2 PHP/5.2.17 with Suhosin-Patch
X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.17
Content-Length: 18
Connection: close
Content-Type: text/html

updateFeed(2)<br>

So basically when I look at my sql database nothing has been added. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Damian

Hi

I want to run a cron to clean my database every week and this is fine eg

DELETE FROM feedItems WHERE ItemAddedTime < DATE_SUB(NOW(), INTERVAL 1 WEEK)

However whe I run rss2sql.php it updates the entries again I have removed. Can I update it so it wont update old entries again after I have removed them?

Thanks

Hi

I recently changed hosting providers and the MySQL database is 6 hours behind the current time resulting in when an item is added at say 7am, it shows in the database as being added at 1am. Am I able to ammend something in the rss2sql.php to make it add 6 hours to the ItemAddedTime before it is added?

Thanks

Cant you use css to give the pictures on your page that don't change specific tags eg

img_header { width:50px; height:80px; }
img_footer { width:150px; height:180px; }
img_side { width:250px; height:280px; }
img { width:50px; height:80px; }

then all other images appearing in your feeds will automatically take the last one from above?

Cheers

Are they on the feed you are using? They will only be displayed if they are included in the feed you are pulling from.

Hi

I know the xmlparser file has php in it for dealing with foreign language charcters (line 311) and I'm pretty sure it should handle the charcters you use but you could double check. Can you confirm the characters are incorrect in the database itself and not just incorrect on the webpage you are displaying them on? (I am getting at have you the correct charset on your webpage?).

Hope this helps

Hi Jim

It looks like the script captures this under ItemDescription, see line 29-30 of the parser scipt:

// In processing Atom 1.0 allow atom:summary to be used to populate item
// description.

and then the code is displayed on line 1456:

case "SUMMARY":
$this->currentItem->description .= $data;
break;

Hope this helps

I'm interested in this, as I have noticed from time to time, some feeds for some reason being refreshed every 15 minutes with te sames tories resulting in a series of duplicate entries.

If I make the ItemLink field unique, what will happen when the I refresh and rss2sql goes to add the feed again, will it get an error and just stop or will it carry on and skip the duplicates?

Thanks

Both the feed & template load each time for me using the version of rss2html from the website:

http://www.rss2html.com/public/rss2html.php?TEMPLATE=http://www.trifoxdesigns.com/rss2html/news.html&XMLFILE=http://trifoxdesigns.com/news/?feed=rss2

Its nothing to do with he commas you have on the end of the links posted?
