Okay, changing the permissions worked, then as me, it allowed me to do the "program compatibility" check, and same thing (said it was incompatible but changed the settings) and then my FeedForAll opened!

How nice!

Thanks for your program support!!!

PostForum: Program Support (FFA Win)   Posted: Mon Apr 03, 2017 9:56 pm   Subject: Some improvement here with startup
Hello.

Well, using the "run as administrator" and also "troubleshoot compatibility" were interesting. BOTH worked when I was in administrator mode. Neither worked when I was logged in as me. Clearly I'll be able to do it only logged in as administrator.

The other odd thing is that after I did the compatibility check is said it was incompatible. It didn't bring up Service Pack 3; it brought up Service Pack 2 (which seems to be the Windows 7 thing. I"m on Windows 7 but it said "Windows Ver. 6.1 and Architecture amd64.

Well, it would be nice to run it under "me" which is where I do most of my work but I can live with this!

Thanks.

PostForum: Program Support (FFA Win)   Posted: Mon Apr 03, 2017 3:59 pm   Subject: Files updating, .exe and setup
I am in Administrator.
I did the right click, and 'run as administrator', and same error message.
I did notice that the Dictionaries, export, feeds, images and settings files are all dated at today.
The .exe file is still dated 2013 and the setup file is dated 2008.
So those are not updating.

PostForum: Program Support (FFA Win)   Posted: Mon Apr 03, 2017 1:22 pm   Subject: now working (downloaded in Administrator) but won't SAVE!
Okay, thank you.

Using Administrator allowed me to install and to update my RSS feed.

However, the download doesn't save.

If I click on the icon, it continues to give the old error message.

I have to download it anew and run it each time. The application doesn't seem to SAVE.

Any ideas?

Thank you!
I had to do it twice for some reason, but it worked the 2nd time and I'm into my FeedForAll! Thank you!

PostForum: Program Support (FFA Win)   Posted: Sun Apr 02, 2017 10:16 pm   Subject: ffasetup.exe has stopped working
Hello. On my FeedForAll, I am getting a runtime error 217 at 00xxxxx.
I went to reinstall from your newly downloaded most recent file. It seemed to start working, then I got ffasetup.exe has stopped working and it shut down.

Told Microsoft, etc. I'm using Windows 7.

It doesn't ask me if I want to save or install. It just goes ahead and tries to install. What should I do?

Thanks.

PostForum: Beta Releases (FFA Win)   Posted: Tue Dec 26, 2006 7:35 pm   Subject: iTunes tags
I am using Beta, very nice, and it has put in a number of itunes tags (e.g. itunes:subtitle, itunes:summary, itunes:duration, itunes:author, itunes:keywords, itunes:explicit, itunes:block) into the item code.

I have tried to submit my new feed to Podcast Alley, and Podcast Alley is giving me error messages, telling me that the Channel is missing such tags as itunes:owner, itunes:keywords, itunes:subtitle, etc.

When I try to put them in the feed section manually and save the file, the tags are gone the next time I open the file.

Any information on this, please? I understand that Beta is new.

Thanks.

Worked like a charm!

Thanks for explaining. Among other things, I did not understand that "link" meant what the picture links to, and your explanation made it all clear.

Yes, thank you. That's the one that my server had listed under MIME and the error message went right away!

Thanks.

OK, and yes, very redundant, but I'm sure they have a reason for doing it this way.

So if I have that image on several pages, which do I use? I have it on my index page (eslhelpdesk.com/index), and others, and of course I also want it on my .xml Feed page (.../eslhelpdesk.xml).

So should I put the .xml page for both the link and URL? Thanks.

I had put in "audio/mp3" for my mp3 file, and when I validated it with the new Beta, it returned an error message "enclosure "type" "audio/mp3" is not a standard MIME type". The solution was simple: I went to the Control Panel of my server and looked up a list of MIME extensions that were right for mp3 file, and used that, and it worked right away. Error message went away.

I am now using your new Beta version and so far it's really wonderful.

I'm getting an error message for my image link (got this same message with the non-beta version too): "Link" should typically match the Feed's "Link". I have in there the image location - http://www.eslhelpdesk.com/whats_that.jpg and I have that same URL for the URL. What's wrong? What does it want? If I don't put the image link in there, the path to the image will not be set anywhere.

Thanks (and thanks for the new beta version, too).

PostForum: RSS2HTML (RSS to HTML Converter)   Posted: Sun Dec 17, 2006 10:33 pm   Subject: It's easy?
Is anybody else having problems getting these scripts to work in a situation like mine, when I am not using FeedForAll's templates?

Tech support keeps saying just look here and do this and that and it's easy. If it's so easy, I wouldn't keep needing tech support, would I. Tech support is supposed to be there for people who do not find it so easy, who are stuck. If it were so easy, I wouldn't be needing tech support.

Very unhappy.

Not only that, but I paid for this software and I tried downloading the templates and it won't download with the password I was given, and tech support has not phoned or emailed me in 3 days to try to help me get these templates downloaded.

Jim,

Using my own template? I mentioned before I'm just using my webpage (built by Front Page), that I do not have a template, per se. You said to leave it blank and that hasn't worked as you can see from the error messages I"m getting.

I tried going to http://www.mywebserver.com/public_html/rss2html.php?buildURL before but it hyperlinks me to www.yourserver.com, which is a website selling server space. If I do a search for "buildURL" on that website, it gives me a download at the site Stylus Studios XML, which is a huge executable file. This is not an easy thing!

Can't you please just tell me what to do, provide me some tech support, help me to construct the correct code so that I can bypass this template thing? After all, this is FeedForAll code, isn't it?

Thanks.
