Hi

First, thanks for putting this php code out there. Unfortunately, I seem to be unable to get it to work.

I have a Wordpress based blog which I would like to feed onto one of my webpages. Both hosted on my server (Apache).

I did, re-did, checked and tested installation of the php code, template and .XML files on my local testing server and on the internet server.

My feed looks like this - no info coming from the source.
----------
11/03/2011
Item 1 title
Item 1 description

more info
---------

Any ideas how to trouble shoot this?

Thanks

Can you give us a link to the feed, template and php script that you're using? That way I can try the URL build statement to see what shows up and start to piece together what's happening from that.

Thanks.

I hope I am doing this right:
the php script is here:
http://www.acmerecords.com/_rssfeed.php

the feed xml:
http://www.acmerecords.com/_rssfeed.xml

and the template:
http://www.acmerecords.com/_template.html

And I am sure I am doing something fundamentally wrong here but am just too dumb to catch it.

Peter,

The good news is that you have the script configured properly, it's doing what it should. What you're running in to is that the Feed itself was configured with that information. Have a look at the actual feed in a feed reader:

http://www.acmerecords.com/_rssfeed.xml

When I opened it up, the title and description for the items literally reads: Item 1 title
Item 1 description

Item 2 title
Item 2 description

So, if that feed is yours and you have the ability to edit/modify it, when you update the titles and descriptions, those values will update in the translation with the PHP script as well.

Thanks for the reply.

This is starting to keep me awake at night.

In the .XML file isn't the text between <title> and <description> tags fixed?
And shouldn't the <link>provide the live contribution?
Then the template file works a little bit like the old mail merge

It seems I don't understand a very basic fact of how this works.

I have been all over the internet and looked at many tutorials (including on FeedForAll) but don't see what I am overlooking.

After sleeping on the thing again it dawns on me that I am using the wrong tool for what I want to do.

If I understand correctly the feed provides a link, title and description to a certain web site/page. It doesn't automatically list the newest posting. So it is not really "live".

What I need is to display the latest entries/news items from my wife's Wordpress blog on her main web page. For that I would have to write a script to keep the feed.xml updated.
