Years ago I created a feed using FFA. I recently (a couple years ago) rebuilt and then relaunched my site (all stayed the same - domain etc. except a new web host) which has a "custom" theme and using WordPress has it's own automatic feed: http://www.danscartoons.com/feed and wondering if this trumps my old feed making that one obsolete? I.e. should I worry anymore about employing the powers of FFA?

If you will be using the WordPress automatically generated feed, it will 'trump' the old feed that you created with FFA as you won't be referencing that feed anymore.

Do you have a way to tell the WordPress site to use a specific feed instead of its own automatically generated feed? If so, you should be able to point WordPress at your existing feed, then continue to use FFA to update it.

not sure what you mean by "Do you have a way to tell the WordPress site to use a specific feed instead of its own automatically generated feed? " because if WP trumps old feed, is there any necessity to telling wp to use a specific feed? Or, should I look in my .htaccess folder and see if old FFA feed is in there? Are you familiar with .htaccess?

It isn't so much a 'trump' as much as you'll need to decide which you would prefer.

You have two options, you can use the WP auto-generated feed or you can use the FFA feed. If you use the FFA feed, you'll need to configure WP to reference the URL of your FFA feed instead of its own native feed. Alternatively, you can use the WP generated feed and sunset the FFA feed.

when I have Filezilla open, and go in to look for FFA feed, is there a specific folder to look for? (if you're familiar with FileZilla?)[/img]

That depends on what you named your feed originally. If you open FFA, the feed's name should be displayed on the left hand side, that would be the name of the file you would need to look for.

When I type that URL into my Chrome or Internet Explorer address bar, the page comes up as a "Page Not Found" so it goes to a dead link. I guess my best question then is, how to fix it. Basically if you were using WP, and you have this happening, what recourse would you take? Curious

You are correct, the posted URL points to a file that doesn't exist, which means that your Cartoons-For-Electronic-and-Print.xml hasn't been uploaded to the site.

At this point, since the old feed is invalid and we're uncertain as to whether WP can point to a new feed instead of its automatically generated feed, you may want to use the WP automatically generated feed.

Really appreciate your clarification! So should I even worry about old FFA feed as it is now and carry on with my wordpress RSS (http://danscartoons.com/feed)?

That's what I would recommend, yes.

I would configure WP to reference the URL created with FFA. I like FFA. Did you find FFA easy to use?

Well, if I knew how to configure WP to reference that URL with FFA, I probably would. Although I do have this automatic feed: http://danscartoons.com/feed so I believe going through the added time of reconfiguring the FFA feed, it would be a moot point, not to mention it would probably conflict with the WP feed I believe.
