Hey Everyone,

Question - my website host gives me stats on the number of hits to the "XML" feed - is this a true number of subscribers that a podcast has? Also, if a person has itunes and they open their program and it searches to see if there is an update - does it "hit" the XML feed and thus register as a "hit" on website stats?

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions for getting true subscriber numbers?

The server logs really only show how many time the feed file is 'hit'. It could be hit multiple times by the same user, so that info isn't really that great.
