Hello. On my FeedForAll, I am getting a runtime error 217 at 00xxxxx.
I went to reinstall from your newly downloaded most recent file. It seemed to start working, then I got ffasetup.exe has stopped working and it shut down.

Told Microsoft, etc. I'm using Windows 7.

It doesn't ask me if I want to save or install. It just goes ahead and tries to install. What should I do?

Thanks.

You typically have to run the setup as an administrator. If your browser is automatically running the download, then that may not be happening.

Try using this link to download the FeedForAll setup program:

ftp://ftp.feedforall.com/

Save the file to your computer (desktop is a handy location)

After the download is finished, find the file and right-click on it. Choose 'Run as Administrator' from the menu.

Okay, thank you.

Using Administrator allowed me to install and to update my RSS feed.

However, the download doesn't save.

If I click on the icon, it continues to give the old error message.

I have to download it anew and run it each time. The application doesn't seem to SAVE.

Any ideas?

You might be fighting with a rights related issue.

Try running FeedForAll in administrator mode by right-clicking on its icon and choose 'Run as Administrator' from the menu. That will ensure that the program has sufficient rights to save files wherever it needs to.

I am in Administrator.
I did the right click, and 'run as administrator', and same error message.
I did notice that the Dictionaries, export, feeds, images and settings files are all dated at today.
The .exe file is still dated 2013 and the setup file is dated 2008.
So those are not updating.

Give this a try:

Go into the FeedForAll program folder and find the FeedForAll.exe file.
Right-click on it and choose Properties
Select the Compatibility tab
Check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" box
Choose 'Windows XP (Service Pack 3)'
Also check the 'Run this program as an administrator' box

Apply those settings and try running FeedForAll again.

Hello.

Well, using the "run as administrator" and also "troubleshoot compatibility" were interesting. BOTH worked when I was in administrator mode. Neither worked when I was logged in as me. Clearly I'll be able to do it only logged in as administrator.

The other odd thing is that after I did the compatibility check is said it was incompatible. It didn't bring up Service Pack 3; it brought up Service Pack 2 (which seems to be the Windows 7 thing. I"m on Windows 7 but it said "Windows Ver. 6.1 and Architecture amd64.

Well, it would be nice to run it under "me" which is where I do most of my work but I can live with this!

Thanks.

You should check the rights of both your FeedForAll program folder, and the folder you are saving your feeds to. Make sure they both have full control set for all users.
