Hi, I asked a question on Craigslist which was

"How can I be notified of any specific items I may be interested in, for example let's say I wish to be notified via EMAIL of all new ads containing the words "Crown Amplifier", is this possible?"

I was told simply "RSS FEEDS" so I searched the net for a forum to ask questions on this and came here. From what I have read on RSS, it appears to me that you need to have a website for this to work, is this correct? If not then any suggestions on how I can achieve what I want from Craigslist via email to my inbox please?

I am now reading about RSS Feed and don't really know how to implement it.

You can be notified of Craigslist updates by subscribing to their RSS feeds using your email client, most web browsers or other RSS aggregators.

Look for the RSS symbol at the bottom of each of Craiglist listing pages or in your browser's URL bar. The RSS symbol is typically an orange color.

Thanks, I tried this but it does not send the emails to my inbox? I would have to go to my home page to see the new ads.

What email client are you wanting to use to subscribe to the RSS feeds?

RSS feeds used to be in Yahoo! Mail, but are now on your My Yahoo! page, on a tab called My RSS Feeds.

Doesn't look like it with Yahoo Mail.

They did have RSS feeds going to Yahoo Mail, and changed it because scanning and reading RSS feeds in Yahoo! Mail doesn’t compare to My Yahoo. You could also let Yahoo know what your preference is.

I recommend Google Reader - in my opinion, so far the best tool for managing your RSS feeds.

I have tried Google Reader, and it stopped sending emails.

I tried Google Alerts but the only true way to be notified would be the alerts being sent to your cell. So you can quickly act on it, with Craigslist if its over an hour usually the item is gone.

So I tried to get Alerts to notify my cell.. but it stops at just under 140 characters and I cannot get the G confirmation email.

I'm thinking about trying to switch SIM cards with an older phone that I have that is on the same network see if that would allow me to get the confirmation email.
