Publishing a iTunes Podcast on Your Web Site or to iTunes™ Music Store
Creating a Podcast to publish on your web
site or on iTunes™ Music Store is as simple
as 1,2,3. Follow this step-by-step tutorial
with clear and precise guidelines. Remember
that in addition to audio, there are 2 elements
for publishing a Podcast on iTunes Music
Store: iTunes specified artwork and an RSS
Feed including iTunes Specific Tags.
- Start a new RSS feed by clicking on
the New Feed button on the toolbar.
- In the Title dialog box enter
a title for the new feed/Podcast.
- In the Description dialog box
enter a collective description of all
the audio files contained in the Podcast.
- In the Link dialog box enter
the URL of the website or webpage you
want associated with the Podcast.
- Select the Advanced Tab while
in the Feed Section.
- Click on the plus symbol below
XML Namespace dialog box. A dialog
box will pop up with two two entry fields.

- In the Namespace entry area enter
itunes.
- In the DTD URL entry area enter
http//www.itunes.com/DTDs/Podcast-1.0.dtd
- Click on the plus symbol and
enter into the Raw XML dialog box
the iTunes specific tags that apply to
your feed AND the information that applies
to such. Details for the iTunes specific
tags can be found here.
- Select the Items Tab and then
the Add Item button.
- In the Title dialog box enter
a title for this specific Podcast or audio
file.
- In the Description dialog box
enter a description of what the audio
file contains.
- In the Link dialog box enter
the URL of the website or webpage you
want associated with this audio file.
- Select the Optional Tab while
in the Items Section.
- Click the Enclosure field and
a drop down form will appear.
- In the URL dialog box enter the
URL of an MP3 or audio file containing
the audio content.
- In the Length dialog box enter
the file size of the audio file in bytes.
- In the Type dialog box enter
audio and the format of the audio file.

- Select the Image Tab and then
open the image you wish to use
as a Podcast Cover.
- In the Title dialog box enter
a title for this specific image or Podcast
Cover.
- In the Description dialog box
enter a description of the image.
- In the Link dialog box enter
the URL for the webpage that directly
relates to the feed. This is typically
the same URL as the Feed's Link field.
- In the URL dialog box enter the
URL for the image file.
- Enter in the Width and Height
of the image. iTunes recommended specifications
require that the image be no less than
170 pixels x 170 pixels SQUARE at 72 dpi.
The preferred size is 300 pixels x 300
pixels at 72 dpi in JPG, or PNG format
and UNCOMPRESSED.
- Return to the Main Page (Feed
Tab) and Save your new feed.
- Click on the Upload Button to
upload your new RSS feed to your web site
or the iTunes Music Store.
