RSS 2.0 Extensions
One of the benefits to the RSS 2.0 specification
is it's expandability. RSS 2.0 extensions are often
called namespaces. Namespaces allow for users or
companies to create new tags or elements.
The RSS 2.0 specification goes into detail about
how namespaces can be documented to prevent confusion
and overlap. The extendibility of the specifications
allow a number of industries to use the standard
and enhance it, with their specific needs without
causing undue confusion or problems, with the original
specification.
Prior to creating a namespace companies are encouraged
to determine if a namespace already exists that
will accomplish what they wish to do. Check the
FeedForAll namespace
directory.
If you determine that a new namespace is required,
create a personal
namespace and let us know and it will be added
to the namespace directory.
