PostForum: Program Support (FFA Win)   Posted: Thu Jun 10, 2010 4:19 pm   Subject: Serious Problems with Feed For All
V 2.0.2.9 Running on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

1) The feed is held on a network drive. FFA claims "the feed doesn't exist / do you want to remove it / are you sure?" on each running. I then have to open the feed manually again from the file menu. This is a major inconvenience if you are updating the feed file every day. I have complained about this previously but nothing resulted.

2) The feed and enclosures are held on separate servers. This is hardly an uncommon situation - but FFA only provides ftp to one server.

3) FFA interprets <itunes:duration> tags thus "80:00" as 80 hours, not as 01:20:00. It should calculate the duration automatically from the file length.

4) On closing and reopening in a new session, it loses local file locations ("no local file defined").

5) FTP transfer reports success. However, the uploaded file on the server is empty, rendering the feed useless.

All the above means the Feed For All is a barely-functioning RSS editor.

Just e-mailed you a screenshot. All the items other than the current one say "no local file defined".

In your enclosures and feed in general, are you specifying the local path to the item/enclosure/file and then using the "upload item enclosures" checkbox in the Publish settings?

Yes, exactly.

It's the "Local File (optional)" drop-down that clears itself, leading FFA to think that the file has never previouly been uploaded.

Will mail log.

Any news on this at all?

FYI, FFA is now not automatically uploading new items, i.e.:

* The item is created, the local file specified –
* Hit “Publish”
* The dialogue box does NOT select the most recent item/file for upload – this now has to be manually selected, or it won’t upload the file.

In other words the problem is getting worse.

No, not random at all...

Two feeds (only one of which is active - the other could be deleted)...

Not sure how many items (how do I easily find out?) but TOTAL feed size is about 720K, although only the most recent 100 items are ever uploaded, so upload feed size is never more than 280K.

Thanks for prompt response.

FFA has started to lose track of local files.

The “Publish feed” dialog now shows a “no local file defined” error for many – but not all – item enclosures.

I’ve been through this once and painstakingly fixed every entry, with the result that FFA wanted to upload all the files again - took hours.

Now, FFA is again showing “no local file defined” for many of the enclosures (all of which are kept in the same local directory).

What’s happening – and what can I do about it?
