The folks that read these post are thinking - what a crazy this guys is. He keeps replying ot his own post.

As I unravel this problem I hope someone will see what I am doing wrong.

Playing with the character encoding in Firefox I have discovered that rss2html is inserting a few characters in front of the first line in everything it returns. Depending on your encoding and browser you might not see the effects. In firefox they look like this "" and in IE is is just a box character or extral blank line.

I have called the script directly using http://www.tomscreekbc.com/rss/rss2html.php?XMLFILE=http://www.tomscreekbc.com/rss/tcbc-news.xml&TEMPLATE=http://www.tomscreekbc.com/rss/templateNews.htm with the same results.

I also used the sample template, same thing.

This looks like some sort on encoding issue but where are theses characters coming from?

Does the web server forced an encoding type?

Russell

This is driving me nuts. Even when I use the sample template I see the problem. It also is seen in IE5 and IE6.

It seems that this "box" problem only happens when the first thing in the template is HTML, such as <h2>. If the first thing is like ~~~FeedTitle~~~ no box is seen in the source anD no space is visible on the page.

All,

I have noticed an extra space just before any text added to the html by rss2html. When you view source in IE7 it shows a small box between the last bit of html ant the first character inserted by the script. You don't see this in FireFox but the space in the web pabe is visible.

Thanks for the advice on my Keyword question about RPO. I did get the Filter script, and it seemed easy to configure.

When I is use the buildScript and click Test Script the pop up browser looks correct. It included the one item is was looking for.

When I copy the filter script into a .php its output contains only the Feed information

Thanks, Russell

I am using rss2html-pro to display only items that contain a certian word. My problem is that as I add pages that need to dispaly different keywords my list of templates keeps growing. It would be great if I could have just one template and pass the keyword to it some how.

I am not to good at PHP, just good enough to get the script running with the help of examples and posts from this fourm.

I know that this is beyond the scope of "support" for the script but I thought that some of the fourm members might have done this before.

Thanks Russell
