thanks for the invit, next time I pass across London...

your quote comes from here, right?
http://www.feedforall.com/press-release-rss2html-2.htm

This is pure <insert here your favourite word>
A dynamic page has no permanent existence - so it cannot be parsed by anything - but in your local browser cache, which is (fortunately) not reachable by web robots...

read this:
http://www.groovecommerce.com/ecommerce-blog/social-media/google-can-now-index-facebook-comments-how-it-could-impact-seo/

and this:
http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.fr/2011/11/get-post-and-safely-surfacing-more-of.html

Only blogs can be indexed (fortunately) because they are not dynamically built on user request.

(well, this is what I understood)

You are addressing a VERY famous issue.
All dynamic pages are not searchable by anything (to my opinion) because they exist only on the user terminal after the've been built on the fly. So, there is no way for any program as smart as they could be to index these pages...
If you wish to have any data indexed by any engine, the data should be written down somewhere! In a Web Server public directory, for example :-)
Sorry 4 that.
Lunch time, see you later...

local web search engine
You shoud reread Aristotle's non-contradiction principle :-)

Are you talking about a local search engine (such like Google Desktop Search on your PC) or a Web-based search engine on the Internet (such like Google) ?

See what I succeeded to do:

(takes time first time as caching is obviously enabled only after first fetch)

Gonna be the local Guru, if this continues that way.. :-)

Here is a start of my Rss In PHP How To:

1 you need:

a) an RSS feeds provider
b) a server on which you copy rss2html.php, sample-template.html and a php script you write to trigger the whole stuff (see below).

2 you have:

a) rss2html.php, upload it
b) sample-template.html, edit it, remove the ~~~ around ItemDescription (to suppress verbose Item Descriptions) and upload it
c) Notepad++ (get it if you don't or use Notepad)

3 with rss2html.php on your server, start this command:

http://www.myserver.com/rss2html.php?buildURL

You (should) get this:

RSS2HTML.PHP LINK TOOL

To assist with the creation of properly encoded URLs for use with rss2html.php this tool has been created. Fill in the URLs or file paths for both the XML file and your template file in the boxes below and then click "Submit". The program will then return the URLs properly encoded in a string that calls rss2html.php. You can click on this link to test the results. The program will also indicate if it was unable to open either of the URLs it was given.
URL for the XML file: ___________________________
(ie. http://feeds.feedburner.com/GoogleOnlineSecurityBlog?format=xml)

URL for the template file: ______________________________
(ie. http://www.myserver.com/sample-template.html)

Optional items
Maximum items: _____
(Use negative numbers for the last X items, ex: -3) (enter -3)
No future items: XML (input) Cache Settings
Allow Caching of the feed: HTML (output) Cache Settings
Output Cache Time: SUBMIT
You should get this:

Results
The XML file http://feeds.feedburner.com/GoogleOnlineSecurityBlog?format=xml was SUCCESSFULLY opened
The template file http://www.myserver.com/sample-template.html was SUCCESSFULLY opened
URL for the XML file properly encoded:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/GoogleOnlineSecurityBlog%3fformat%3dxml
URL for the template file properly encoded:

Your rss is sending feeds in English and Japanese.

I guess your XML parser does not understand Japanese...

Maybe I was not inuf clear.

The "page" where your visitors arrive will not be a static HTML page with some dynamic php inside.

It is (should be) the rss2html.php script, which will get/convert and post your feed data on a new page it populates, actually from a template one (2nd in rss2html.php)

What I'm doing is this:

I built my page with my favourite html editor, I labelled all data with the rss2html tag syntax ~~~X~~~, then I ran rsss2html.php, giving my rss feed as input #1 and my template page as param #2

Works fine !

Have a look at your xml file

xml_get_current_line_number() = 5
xml_get_current_column_number() = 45
xml_get_current_byte_index() = 263

what does it read?

yes,
As I posted today in here before, the doc is not clear.
The resulting .php file is NOT a php script to display your feed data, it is an actual rss feed.
So, please give your script path to rss2html, (should be local, no URL) and Bob should be your Uncle (laaaaaaarge family, Bob's :-)

I understand that I can rename mesher.php to index.php and that would work but it's too scarily simple!!
To me, it is exactly what you can/should do.
Did you try?

PostForum: RSSmesh (Automatic Feed Aggregator)   Posted: Sun Apr 29, 2012 5:34 am   Subject: [SOLVED]
Found.
The doc is unclear :-(

The php script produced by RssMesh is NOT a stand-alone rss2html-like php script, which would build and display the resulting data on the user screen, it builds an actual RSS feed, sum of all input feeds.

So, to display the contents of the feeds, the php script should be used as an INPUT feed, nothing else.

Example:

my resulting RssMesh script is "myfeed.php"
so usage is :

rss_test_3.php

<?php
$XMLFILE = "http://www.ddtl.fr/piscine/myfeed.php";
$TEMPLATE = "http://www.ddtl.fr/piscine/1002.html";
include("rss2html.php");
?>

And Bob is my Uncle.
