You mean, your problem is that you can't save your settings? I thought that was just how it worked. x

Sheesh I'm just so "not-up-to-date" on current Software features. Imagine any Software working as it should and you actually owning it and expecting and receiving quality. My bad.

I'm so old school - I still use a keyboard and mouse!

Every single time I populate the "Link" Field in either the "Current Feed" or "All Feeds" Preferences then, next time I open FFA, my "Settings" file loses most of my previously entered info.. e.g FTP settings, File Open cache and many other of my personalized, pre-populated settings.

I can restore the "Settings" file from Backup but......just sayin'.

Win7Ult 64Bit, Rockin'Box, all up-to-date.

1) Make sure you have System Restore activated for your Windows 7 C: Drive.

2) If and when your FFA craters and loses your registration settings AND your personal and particular "settings" file (that you've spent months and years setting up) then,

3) Re-enter your FFA Reg. Info. MANUALLY and,

4) Restore the C:\Program Files (x86)\NotePage\FeedForAll\Settings file from your Windows System Restore. (you know, right click the file and select "properties")

This will help. Heed this advice well.

I swear this used to be way easier for me 2 years ago but, on re-visiting the rssMesh setup I am now flummoxed!

My current home page is at cannonbeachcomputers.com

My current index.php file is an rss2html thusly:

$useFopenURL = 0;
$XMLfilename = "feeds/home.xml";
$TEMPLATEfilename = "cbchome.htm";
$limitFeedTitleLength = 0; // Not limited, in the URL as FeedTitleLength=
$limitFeedDescriptionLength = 0; // Not limited, in the URL as FeedDescriptionLength=

and works great!

My fuzzy memory seems to think that if i just changed the $XMLfilename above to a meshed .php CONFIG file then it would work?!

Right now all I can get to work is cannonbeachcomputers.com/mesher.php, contents below:
$XMLFILE = "http://www.cannonbeachcomputers.com/rssmesh/meshed.php";
$TEMPLATE = "http://www.cannonbeachcomputers.com/rssmesh/meshed.htm";

I understand that I can rename mesher.php to index.php and that would work but it's too scarily simple!!

Is my memory playing trix on me or, can I not put meshed.php into the rss2html $XMLfilename field (of my index.php file) and have it work?

I thought I used to do it that way...

Can anyone help me with a rss2html user-agent.php question please?

What would I change the rss2html.php line below to - so that it sends the name of the real user agent who is visiting the page?

ini_set("user_agent", "FeedForAll rss2html scripts v3");

Thank You.

Forgive my ignorance of explanation but I hope someone can help me please.

First, thank you to the writer for such a free and useful script. Thank You.

I've been using rss2html successfully for a while and suddenly - due to the folks I grab some of my feeds from - their code prevented my rss2html.php from pulling rss!

after some magic at the back end here's the final response I got from my rss feeders tech support.

"..The code is sending the user agent name as:
ini_set("user_agent", "FeedForAll rss2html scripts v3");

for now I have requested to accept this user agent so your pages will work.
But you need to modify this code to send the real user agent name of the user who is visiting the page. Or your pages might stopped working again in the future......"

Can I manually change this line of the script/code to have it reflect the "Real User Agent" or is this a change that can be made at all? Has anyone come across this before? what is my RSS "host" trying to achieve here?

Thank you for any help and for such a neat and useful utility.
