PostForum: RSS2HTML (RSS to HTML Converter)   Posted: Fri Nov 23, 2012 5:07 pm   Subject: ItemUniqueLinkWithTemplate=X HELP PLEASE
I am trying again to figure out how to use the RSS2HTML Pro script and how to create a separate web page for each item contained in the RSS feed; using ItemUniqueLinkWithTemplate=X.

Here are the steps I have taken:

1. downloaded the following scripts; rss2html, rss2html pro, and rss mesh into one folder and uploaded to my server.

2. using the rssMesh.php?buildConfig page I meshed two xml feeds together and created my xml file <?php
$XMLFILE = "http://attennis.com/proTest/xml.php";
$TEMPLATE = "http://attennis.com/proTest/template.html";
include("rss2html.php");
?>

4. I then inserted the PHP Include into the body of this page http://attennis.com/proTest/home.php

5. I have yet to find an explanation for implementing ItemUniqueLinkWithTemplate=X so I am guessing at what next to do but this is what I attempted.

6. on my template page shown above; I changed:

<A href="~~~ItemLink~~~">~~~ItemTitle~~~</A>
to
<A href="~~~ItemUniqueLinkWithTemplate=X~~~">~~~ItemTitle~~</A>

7. I then created a new template page http://attennis.com/proTest/templateX.php to display the contents of each rss item when clicked; thus displaying the contents of a rss link on my site's custom page.

8. after uploading the new files and changes, when I click on a rss link on http://attennis.com/proTest/home.php the resulting page URL is:

http://attennis.com/proTest/home.php?XMLFILE=http://attennis.com/proTest/xml.php&TEMPLATE=X&GUID=urn:newsml:sports.yahoo,lego:19780928:top,article,886cf7da-7bc8-341a-bfee-e3cd27d351b8-l:1&MAXITEMS=1

and the page displays the following error message: "Configuration setting prohibit using the specified template file, exiting"

9. I found a post for this error message http://www.feedforall.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=20069 that stated to do this: Try changing this line in the rss2html.php script:

$fileAccessLevel = 1;

to this:

$fileAccessLevel = 0;

which I did and I still receive ...

Hello and thank you for taking time to send me a reply. Sorry for the delayed response as I have not worked on my site in many months.

I want to ask if it is possible to have an RSS link on my site open into my site's page design; thus keeping the viewer at my site?

Here is my test page created: http://attennis.com/proTEST.php

Also, how can I adjust the CSS settings; font size, color, etc; on the listed test test page?

I will be happy to pay for any consulting/solution you can provide.

Thank you for a reply and I will respond back in quick fashion as I have time now to work on my site.

BELOW IS FROM FEED FOR ALL:

I want to create a web page of headlines, and then individual web pages for each item in my RSS feed. Is there any easy way to dynamically do this?

Yes, you can use the RSS2HTML Pro script. The RSS2HTML Pro add on script expands the functionality of RSS2HTML by allowing publishers and webmasters to dynamically create an index of feed items. The RSS2HTML Pro script dynamically generates a separate web page for each item contained in the RSS feed. The script also creates an index of feed items as a separate web page.

As with the RSS2HTML script the web pages dynamically update as the feed's item changes, meaning that the information displayed is always current. Additionally the contents of the web pages is able to be spidered by search engines.

The RSS2HTML Pro script dynamically generates a separate web page for each item contained in the RSS feed. The script also creates an index of feed items as a separate web page.

HOW DO YOU MAKE THIS HAPPEN?

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO PUT IN THE PHP FILES TO ACHIEVE CREATING A SEPARATE WEB PAGE FOR EACH ITEM CONTAINED IN THE RSS FEED?

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME? I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH VERY LITTLE OR NO PHP KNOWLEDGE WHO NEEDS HELP.

CAN SOMEONE BREAK IT DOWN STEP BY STEP?

PLEASE; ANYONE.

I feel there are many who have had the same issues in implementing the RSS2HTML PRO script.

Though I must state that the tech support is helping me with my RSS2HTML issue, http://www.feedforall.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7505

I just do not understand why honest to goodness RSS2HTML PRO step by step instructions with images has not been created to help webmasters with little or no PHP experience.

Thank you. The links work now.

Yes, I am looking at the PRO documentation.

Where in my template file do I place:

~~~ItemUniqueLinkWithTemplate=X~~~
and do you replace X with the local path to the template page you would like a linked article's content to be displayed on?
Thanks again for your help.
See I am thinking that I can link to an article and the content of that particular article will display on a template page from my site and thus creating an HTML page with a news article for my site. Is this a correct way of understanding?
Oh OK. Here is a copy of the email I sent on December 27, 2010 to macsupportatfeedforalldotcom and never received a reply:
Hello,
When I create an item that links to another site's article; the link created on my RSS page is incorrect as on this page:
http://attennis.com/news.php
example of incorrect link:
http://attennis.com/rss2html/http://tennis.com/articles/templates/news.aspx?articleid=9299&zoneid=25
Though on my xml page the links works:
http://attennis.com/At_Tennis_News_Headlines.xml
Can you help me correct this and also explain to me what I am not comprehending?
Also; Am I understanding the capabilities of the RSS2HTML PRO.
RSS2HTML PRO can take an article from either my own feed or another site feed and convert it to a web page on my site using my template page?
Is it possible for you to implement the feeds for me for a fee?
Thank you for your help.
After not receiving a reply; I then sent and email to ianatnotepagedotcom because Ian was so quick to respond when I had a purchase question. Though I have not received a reply back from him. Here is acopy of that email:
Hi Ian,
I really need some help getting the RSS2HTML & Pro version up and running. I leave for ... in 2 weeks and would like to get RSS on my sites before I go.
If I give you my username and password to my hosting account, 1and1.com; can you do this for me?
Thanks for a reply back,
