PostForum: SQL2RSS (MySQL to RSS Feed Creator)   Posted: Sat May 17, 2008 5:39 am   Subject: Where is the XML file that is produced?
Hi Jim,

Just reading through the forum and found this post, was wondering if there was any update.

Basically what I'm trying to do is this, I parse an xml feed into MySQL and update my tables, I then use SQL2RSS to produce my RSS 2.0 Feeds, which all works great. This though produces a file extention of .php, if I then want to take that .php file and use RSS2HTML (Pro) it complains when I input the .php file in place of the sample.xml file.

Because I use a lot of short small RSS feeds, I don't really want to go through and copy and paste the output from the php file to xml.

Any suggestions ?

Again, simple question, is there a way to pull information from the database to include in the Channel Template File?

Any support here ?

Four days of waiting for a reply is not a very good advertisement for this script.. I was sure that my problem was a simple one to answer for the coder of this script, but waiting and waiting, and searching the forum I finally found the answer I was looking for.

YOUR documentation that is enclosed with the script, is listed, numbered to a parrot fasion for somebody to follow.. however, you failed to mention in the documentation one VERY important factor... After adding the RSS Feed url to the Database, the documentation stats on line 19.

19) To cause the feed to be parsed and stored in the database use rss2sql.php

Example: http://www.FeedForAll.com/rss2sql.php

It fails to mention that you should type the following at the end:-

Example: http://www.FeedForAll.com/sql2rss.php?CONFIGFILE=sql2rss_Config.php

I don't think my set-up is working.

Ok I went through the set-up process, left everything standard, removed the "sample" from DB config file, and rss2sql Config.php file.

proved connectivity, logged in as admin, and have added 6 feeds, if I go to phpmyadmin, I can see all the DB structure with the two tables etc.

My problem seems to be the updates, there is no data in the tables, other than the feed URLS, last & next update shows 0000-00-00 00:00:00 and update count is 0.

I have tried to force the update with mydomain/admin/rss2sql/rss2sql.php?feedID=1
and other feeds also.. stil no update dates.

Please Advice

Regards

I think your config file should be: rss2sql_Config.php

Providing you keep everything standard.. but I could be wrong, I'm new too..

Also, on the items, is there a way to include a table, or Content:encode with tables etc?

Hello,

I purchased RSS2SQL last night, and was able to get it working, and can create feeds etc with the different select varibles from MySQL.

My question is this one, is it possible to have the RSS2SQL update the channel template with information from the database as well as the item content ?
