I created an RSS feed but not knowing what I was doing I left a bunch of the fields empty. The feed appeared to still work, so does this mean that many of the fields are not required?
What fields in an rss feed are required?

Although even some of these are optional, you should really include a 'Title', 'Description', and 'Link' for the feed. Typically you would want at least one 'Item' entry, and it would be best if each item entry has at least a 'Title', 'Description', and 'Link' too.
Everything else is optional.

There is actually a great web page that details what belongs in each field and indicates if the field is optional or required at:
http://www.feedforall.com/rss-fields.htm
I hope this answers your question.

This is great!! Thanks very much. It clearly tells what feeds are needed to create an rss feed. Thanks for your help.
