Is there any simple way to get an RSS feed to *ignore* a section of
text in a blog post? (I.e. so people reading the feed in a feed reader
will not see that section?)
For example, are there certain HTML tags I can insert around the text to exclude it from the HTML feed?
I'm thinking something like this:
Ignore this text
(Excuse my ignorance with the tags!)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Are you using FeedForAll to create your feeds? If so, just use the XML comments section of the Feed or Items tabs.
If you aren't, you can use this code to comment out text

No, I'm using Feedburner.
Thanks for the suggestion, but I want the text to show up in the blog post (not just be a comment) but *not* in the RSS feed.
Is there a way to do that?
The text is an opt-in message (for email updates), but I don't want that to go out in the RSS feed to people who have already subscribed.
Hope that makes sense.
