I have been tasked to put together some prices creating and distributing podcasts.
I currently have my own website and I am sure that I have enough storage space, bandwith may be another issues. I will not know that until this project is launched. Right now the plan is to have two podcasts available at a time -- one 8 minute and one 45 minute. The eight minute is audio and the 45 min. may be video.
The podcast is created -- put into a suitable format -- and uploaded onto the webserver. What does an IIS6 webserver need for people to download these podcasts? I would go with a hosted service, but these podcasts are not public and only certain individuals will have access.
Thanks for everyone's input

There are two pieces to a Podcast: An RSS feed, and an audio file. Both will be uploaded to your webserver. The RSS feed is what people initially download, typically with a RSS Reader program, or Podcast Reader program. The RSS feed contains the general information, including a description of the audio file(s). If the user decides to listen to the audio file, the reader will then download it too.
You can use our FeedForAll program to create the RSS feed.

Thanks for the reply.
The powers to be are also talking about video podcasts. Will this work also?? Because the information is for a select group of individuals, do I actually have to subscribe the podcast?
Thanks

The only real difference between an audio podcast and a video podcast is the type of enclosure you point to from within the feed.
The term 'subscribing' when used in RSS, podcasts, etc. simply means that an end user enters your feed/podcast/etc. into their reader so that they are notified by the program when there are new items it, or it has changed.
